Nash Community College Welcomes Largest Electric Line Academy Class
ROCKY MOUNT, North Carolina (August 15, 2025) – Nash Community College’s Electric Line Academy is reaching new heights this fall, enrolling its largest class since the program began. 75 students are participating in the 16-week academy, a historic milestone for the college and the electric utility training industry in the region.
The Electric Line Academy prepares students for in-demand careers in the electric utility sector, offering hands-on training in pole climbing, equipment operation, and safety procedures. With the nation’s growing need for skilled line workers, this record-setting enrollment reflects the strength of NCC’s program and the promising career paths it opens for graduates.
“We’re excited to welcome our largest group of future line workers,” said Lindsey Sauls, Director of the Electric Line Program. “Their hard work here will prepare them for a career that’s essential to our communities.”
Nash Community College is the only college in North Carolina to award an Associate Degree in Electric Line Technology upon completion of the academy. In addition to rigorous technical training, many students receive scholarships, allowing them to graduate with little to no debt.
NCC President Dr. Lew K. Hunnicutt said the program’s success is a testament to the life-changing opportunities it provides. “Nash Community College has the premiere Electric Line program in the region, and this record-breaking class proves it. In just 16 weeks, our graduates can enter a high-demand field making $50,000–$60,000 a year, often with little or no debt thanks to available scholarships. Most of our students have job offers before they even complete the academy.”
